Introducing Our Newest Staff Member: Ariana Siegel

Ariana Siegel is a new fellow at the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center, serving as the Special Projects Coordinator for this year. Her fellowship is coordinated by AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps, a year-long program that connects participants with organizations doing anti-poverty work in New York, Washington DC, Chicago, and New Orleans. In May Ariana graduated from Tufts University with a degree in Peace and Justice Studies and English literature. While at Tufts she worked with United for a Fair Economy, an organization that raises awareness about the economic divide and helps build movements for greater economic equality. She also spent time organizing and attending protests as an intern at Massachusetts Jobs with Justice. As a high school student Ariana visited Crown Heights while participating in a program called Operation Understanding, DC, a program that brings together Jewish and African American youth to become leaders against racism and anti-Semitism.

In addition to her commitment to social justice, Ariana enjoys writing in all of its forms; she completed a senior honors thesis in creative writing and was an editor atThe Observer, a Tufts student publication.  Ariana is very excited to be working in such a dynamic and warm community, and looks forward to getting to know her neighbors on Kingston Ave and beyond.
